Prater’s killers are taken to a rented castle for a retreat where Dexter takes the opprotunity to give the group a glimpse of his true self. Inspired by Dexter, Prater opens up to him about his difficult past and Prater’s friendship with the serial killer who had murdered his parents. Dexter reveals to Gareth how he killed his brother to piss him off, with Gareth attacking him and Dexter killing Gareth making it look like self-defense, and pins Lowell’s death on him. In New York, Dexter joins Harrison on a college tour as Harrison considers a career in law enforcement and they attend a lecture by Detective Wallace on the New York Ripper. Having seen the Ripper’s murder weapon in Prater’s collection, Dexter offers her some advice on the case. Angel visits Blessing’s home to meet with Dexter, who offers him a ride. While driving Angel, Dexter warns him to stay away from him and his son, but Angel objects, wanting to avenge the deaths of his friends; Dexter forces him out of the car after Angel secretly puts his earbuds in the passengers seat to use as a GPS.
